Why parents invest in Ju-Jitsu.

A letter shared with students and parents — a reminder that the art builds attributes for life, not only belts.

Dear students and parents — welcome. I would like to share a message sent to me from another parent about why they send their children to Ju-Jitsu.

“One of my friends asked: why do you pay for your kids to do Ju-Jitsu? Well, I have a confession. I don’t pay for my kids’ martial arts.”

  • I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don’t.
  • I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are “too tired” to go to practice — but go anyway.
  • I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their bodies.
  • I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good teammates.
  • I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they go to tournaments but don’t get the medal they hoped for.
  • I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals.
  • I pay for the hours of hard work it takes to attain the next belt — success does not happen overnight.
  • I pay for the opportunity to make lifelong friendships.
  • I pay for so that my kids can be in the dojo instead of in front of a screen.

To be short: I don’t pay for Ju-Jitsu. I pay for the opportunities Ju-Jitsu provides my kids to develop attributes that will serve them throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far, I think it is a great investment.

This is such a great message. I am pleased that many other parents feel the same way. We also have many parents who participate in Ju-Jitsu and see the benefits for themselves.

If you are interested in starting — perhaps even taking a class at the same time as your children — please chat to me. We now have a special time slot allocated to parents and children.

Safety

Collect from the mat, not the car park.

Please remind children they must wait until a parent has come into the dojo. The parking lot is busy and we would hate for there to be an accident.
